Sustainability in Action: Insights from the Northern Sustainability Summit 2024

We enjoyed attending the Northern Sustainability Summit on Monday, a gathering of diverse professionals dedicated to advancing sustainability across various sectors in the North.  
 
The day was a blend of insightful presentations and engaging panels, where industry leaders shared innovative strategies and real-world examples of sustainability in action. From talks on global carbon literacy efforts to practical advice on digital transformation and compliance. The summit provided a wealth of knowledge and fostered meaningful connections among sustainability professionals. 
 
Here are some key takeaways: 

Diverse Attendees: The summit brought together a wide range of participants, from corporate leaders to grassroots activists, fostering a rich exchange of ideas and perspectives. This diversity is crucial for driving innovative solutions and broad-based support for sustainability initiatives.    

Sustainability Journeys: A common theme was organisations are at different stages in their sustainability efforts. Some people were feeling quite behind or alone… recognising that many many people are in the same boat is important. Knowing and addressing where your organisation sits allows for more effective and customised support, ensuring each individual business can progress.  

Resource Needs: There was a strong emphasis on the need for additional resources to manage expanding compliance and reporting requirements. Many organisations are facing challenges in this area and require further support. Addressing these resource gaps is essential for enabling companies to achieve long-term success.
